Top Ten: Treasures at Won’s

Chase Design Group is located in a part of Silverlake that one wouldn’t consider to be much of a retail mecca. More of an industrial/residential area with an elementary school thrown in. Quite often in the afternoon some of us here need a snack of some sort to perk us up. As you can guess, our choices are few when it comes to finding such a snack. That’s where Won’s Market comes in to save the day. Just a few short steps away from the office is a treasure trove of not just snacks but a plethora of the strange and unusual. We tried to find the strangest 10 items to share, and yes, we actually purchased all of them.
#10 Chelada
Alright we know this is not unique to Won’s, but combining beer and clam juice seems like a crime against nature. I guess it would go good with a peanut butter and hair sandwich.

#9 Poly Gloves – 100 count
Lunch anyone?

#8 Vanilla and Strawberry Marshmallows
Ok these are actually kind of awesome, but they are about as natural as Pam Anderson.

#7 Birthday Bows
These are for a very sad sad celebration.

#6 Peeled Shrimp
These look like Sasquatch toenail clippings, and smell like Sasquatch droppings. If it wasn’t for the salsa del sol, I don’t know how you would choke these back.

# 5 Arianna Record
Supposedly she is like the Mexican Farrah Fawcett if the Mexican Farrah Fawcett made really crappy music.

#4 Forever Shower Caps
When I imagine Arianna taking a shower she is always wearing one of these, and humming the song from “The Crying Game”, is that wrong?

#3 Snott Gorila Gel
This perfect for when I run out of my usual Monkey Vomit Pomade.

Color not adjusted. It actually appears to glow in the dark.
#2 Giant Can of Hominy
We used a nickel for size reference on this baby. Really who would ever need this much hominy?

And look what popped out when we opened it up.
#1 Train Aquarium Clock Thing
On top of being utterly baffling, the clock didn’t work when we plugged it in. Although it did light up and those fish swam like nobody’s business. Just remember this was someones contribution to society.
